Special Notes: After the 2006 racing season the "super modified" style 1969 Tipke went to Lejeune Engineering for frame changes to accommodate the "FORD Project". The Tipke would return for 2007 season with a 302ci FORD stroked to produce 358ci !!...the heavy Tipke roadster, averaging 200lbs more than a conventional upright sprint car would explode the driveline at Calgary's 5/8 mile banked oval. The shock to the loaded chassis, resulted in a cracked engine block.
The 2008 season the 52 Scotty team was back, this time with a 351 FORD, utilizing engine parts from the earlier stroker, a rather unconventional 354ci took to the track. With a combination of parts not particularly liking each other the engine proved to be very capable, former driver Chris Root easily demonstrating this before the Victoria B.C. hometown crowd, when team efforts helped him to competently lead the Daffodil Cup for 30 laps, then a difficult decision to return to the pits, forgoing his near certain victory of the prestigious race, the reason, overheating brought on by a defective radiator!!.
The team would head to Vernon B.C. to the 5/8 tri oval, the FORD powered roadster was right at home on the big track, and with team efforts again the car was very fast. The night at Vernon would end with a broken crankshaft, possibly from the stress of the previous Calgary driveline failure or maybe just a little scared of having all those bad chev's always chasing it.
The 2009 season, has car owner Kevin Scott, and engine builder Stacy Kyca going FORD again, with a new engine program they are hoping their Scott/Kyca 355 FORD powered Tipke with new driver "Jesse Dardengo" will again be able to thrill the fans with some fast FORD racing!!
